History

The History program offers two options leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree. The first option prepares majors for graduate study or for entering fields such as journalism, politics, law, and government. The second option prepares majors for professional work as teachers in public schools. History courses provide non-majors with courses of interest generally to increase awareness of the significance of historical change.

Option 1: History
Required Courses for Option 1:

Select one of the following:

Select 18 credit hours in History, with at least one course from three of the following areas:
Asian History- African History- European History- Latin American History- Middle Eastern History
Total Credit Hours: 39

Option 2: History/Social studies teacher Certification
Required Courses for Option 2:

Education Courses Required for Option 2:

Additional Required Courses for Option 2:

Select 3 credit hours in any one of the following:
Political Science (Law)- Philosophy- Psychology- Social Science- Sociology
Total Credit Hours: 72

Additional Comments or Requirements:
A minimum grade of "C" is required in all history courses.
