The basic Home Repair and Energy Conservation Program has developed fact sheets, and hand-on workshops to assist District residents with minor repairs and energy conservation techniques in such areas as: toilet tank repair, leaky faucet repair, wall repairs, basic tools, and basic electricity. |

Working Homeowner Program |

The Cooperative Extension Service, Working Homeowner Program provides more advance skills topics to District residents. The working Homeowner Program is designed to provide information on “How To” maintain, repair, and replace items throughout the home.
While many companies and stores offer “How To” seminars, the working homeowner program will give the participants the “How To” on the entire project.
Topics such as:
- Replacing Sink and Faucet
- Wall Papering
- Changing Light Fixtures
- Installing a Toilet
- Replacing a Garbage Disposal
- Painting Techniques
- Installing Door Locks
- Installing Ceramic Tile
- Installing Vinyl Flooring

Healthy Indoor Air Program |

Healthy Indoor Air for America’s Homes is a national consumer education program concerned with improving the quality of indoor air in homes. This program helps provide awareness of indoor air quality issues such as radon, secondhand smoke, asthma, lead, combustible gases, carbon monoxide, molds, asbestos, and other household products.
Healthy Indoor Air for America’s Homes is a partnership project funded and supported by the United States Environment Protection Agency-Indoor Environment Division and the United States Department of Agriculture, Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service. |
