The Community Resource and Economic Development (CRED) unit is part of the DC Cooperative Extension Service of the University of the District of Columbia and part of the University’s Land Grant System. In this capacity, CRED enables District residents to improve their lives through business, community and co-op economic development strategies.
In conjunction with the United States Department of Agriculture, CRED provides a program of activity geared to “Enhance Economic Opportunity and Quality Of Life for District Residents” and foster “Strengthening Children, Youth, Families and Individuals,” “Building and Sustaining of Healthy Neighborhoods,” and “Promoting Economic Development in the District of Columbia.”
CRED works through two programs and four activity centers.
Those activity centers include:
- Promoting Business
- Community and Co-op Development
- Leadership and Organizational Development, and
- Intergenerational Development for Youth and Seniors.
The services offered by CRED are free to DC residents. Groups and organizations can request training, technical assistance and information by calling 202-274-7126.
