DEALING WITH A DISTRESSED STUDENT Any member of the UDC community may come into contact with a distressed student.  Being aware of distress signals, methods of intervention, and sources of help for the student can help you to effectively address such situations.  Here are some tips to prepare you to be a more effective helper.

DEALING WITH A DISRUPTIVE STUDENT   It can be hard to know how to best manage disruptive student behavior in the classroom.  Here are some tips to help you more confidently, fairly, and safely address incidents of disruption in a manner that discourages future such behavior while retaining the dignity of the campus environment.

CRISIS SITUATIONS

If you are helping a distressed student with a current mental health emergency or concerned that the student is in immediate danger of self harm, please do not delay.  Call 911 for immediate help.

If a disruptive student is threatening  to harm you or other students, immediately dismiss the class and inform the Campus Police (202) 274-5050 

REGULAR HOURS

By Appointment:  Monday through Thursday between 8:30 AM and 7:00 PM or Friday between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM.  On the first Saturday of the month, we are open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
