Fire Science Technology – AAS

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Science Technology offers college level courses that are compatible with work schedules for DC area Fire Department and Emergency Medical professionals. For the past thirty years, Fire Department and Emergency Medical professionals have enrolled in the program to gain points for promotional examination, enhance their knowledge of Fire Sciences, and obtain degrees. Numerous of graduates have been promoted as a result of having completed the degree requirements. Some have become instructors, obtained employment at other institutions, or continued their studies as graduate students at UDC and other institutions of higher learning.

Students completing the two-year curriculum receive an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Science Technology. Instruction is given in the principal fields of Fire Science to include fire suppression, hazardous materials, arson investigation, fire prevention, fire safety codes and standards, and advanced fire fighting tactics and strategy.
