Dr. Jacqueline Skinner Jackson

Jacqueline Jackson serves as the Interim Dean of Academic Affairs of the new Community College of the District of Columbia, where she has opened the doors to academic and workforce achievement for future generations through innovative courses and the expansion of opportunities. She brings diverse experience as a consultant to educational agencies, a dean at renowned colleges, and a director of higher education programs.

Most recently, Dr. Jackson taught as a visiting assistant professor at The George Washington University, where she created three new graduate courses on higher education and student affairs. Previously, she served as the Director of Educational Programs and Publications at the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), the leading student affairs association, where she increased online educational programs and the range of development offerings to successfully reach diverse demographic groups. With the Consortium for the Advancement of Private Higher Education (CAPHE), Dr. Jackson served as a program director of a national grant program designed to enhance experiential learning pedagogy which addressed community-based needs. As the Associate Dean of Students of St. Olaf College, Dr. Jackson implemented the first comprehensive professional development program for the student affairs division as well as a cultural organization model for diversity transformation. She also has consulted for the Northern Virginia Community College, Lehigh University, and the HBCU Faculty Development Network.

Dr. Jackson served as the Treasurer for Women Administrators in Higher Education,andthe Coordinator of Minority Undergraduate Fellows Program. She presently serves as a  judge for the U.S. Professors of the Year Program on the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. She has served on boards of directors for the Rape Crisis Center, YWCA, and Family Services in Wilmington, North Carolina, as well as the Multi-Ethnic Support Association in Grand Folks, North Dakota. Dr. Jackson is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Interdisciplinary Honor Society and the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society. She earned a doctorate from Old Dominion University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Western Illinois University.
