College Access and Readiness for Everyone

Program Description

The UDC-CC College Access and Readiness for Everyone (or CARE) is a special undergraduate program that provides District of Columbia pre-college students with the opportunity to earn college credits early, at no cost and with guidance and support through the application process to enrollment and throughout their course experience. Our students prepare for college by experiencing it firsthand. Created in 2011, the CARE Program has served over 1,075 dual enrolled students, and provided early ACCUPLACER testing for over 3,500 DC students. CARE has grown its enrollment by 500% and is the largest dual enrollment option in the District of Columbia. Thanks to the close collaboration with our school partners below, faculty, and UDC overall, the CARE Program offers students a supported transition between high school and college, including dedicated advisors, access to all college resources, over 70 college-level credit-bearing course options, dual credit course options, supplemental instruction, tutors, and special programming.
