COLLEGE OF NOTRE DAME LADY GATORS DEFEAT LADY FIREBIRDS IN TENNIS
Washington, DC: The Lady Gators of the College of Notre Dame defeated the University of the District of Columbia Lady Firebirds 5-4 in tennis competition on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, in Washington. The Lady Gators won the singles competition 4-2 as Monica Cherry defeated Eniola Bakare 6-0,6-0, Roxana Beyranvand defeated Amdalat Koletowo 6-1, 6-0, Allison Najewicz defeated Tyane Washington 6-0, 6-2, and Ali Phillips defeated Robin Williams 6-1, 6-2.
UDC’s Nerissa Peterson-Paul defeated Marie Santiago 6-0, 6-1, and Edith Chidi defeated Meryl Krich
6-3, 6-0 for the Lady Firebirds 2 singles points. In doubles competition Nerissa Peterson-Paul and Tyane Washington defeated Monica Cherry and Roxana Beyranvand 8-2. Edith Chidi and Robin Williams defeated Ali Phillips and Meryl Krich 8-5 in their doubles match. Marie Santiago and Allison Najewicz defeated Eniola Bakare and Amdalat Koletowo 8-0 to give the Lady Gators the overall 5-4 win.
The Lady Firebirds finished their season with a 5-7 record.
