DEAN'S WELCOME

I am very pleased to welcome you to the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the premier professional school at the University of the District of Columbia!

We’re one of only eleven Historically Black Colleges and Universities that offer nationally accredited engineering programs, and SEAS faculty are dedicated to providing a top-notch education. Our faculty members were selected from a variety of disciplines such as aerospace technology, architecture, electrical engineering, fire science and mechanical engineering.

In addition to the myriad programs, courses and electives offered at SEAS, we are pleased to be able to offer the opportunity of international study through our joint program with the Modern Academy in Maadi, Egypt. Currently, the MAM program enrolls more than 400 electrical and mechanical engineering students, as well as computer science students.

You may also wish to take advantage of our partnership with the DC-CAP and the DCPS Technology programs to ensure a seamless matriculation to our engineering and professional programs.

All of us at SEAS know that we have been blessed in our professions as well as in our lives. And so, we feel very strongly that we have a duty to empower more minorities to move into the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. To that end, we’ve developed a community program, the Science and Engineering Center (SEC), which offers year-round K-12 programs to Metro DC residents. We’re very proud of the fact that SEC is also a NASA Education Resource Center.
