Individualized Assessment, Counseling and Job Search Coaching

Basic skills assessment - A pre-test and post-test of the Tests for Adult Basic Education (TABE) administered to establish base line Career aptitude assessment Portfolio assessment to develop/refine the Individual Responsibility Plan (mandated under Welfare Reform) Resume DC Employment Form 2000 Financial aid applications, Weekly update of PATHS job openings notebook, gleaned from professional contacts, University of the District of Columbia contacts, community contacts, newspapers and other sources. Assist students in identifying potential jobs that best suit their experience and abilities Computer literacy assessment

Basic Computer Literacy

  • Introductory word processing assessments and spread sheet applications
  • Introductory graphics applications
  • Introduction to use of the internet - for job search and self-paced instruction
  • Daily access to additional instruction and practice opportunities in computer lab

Family Literacy

The PATHS family literacy component is designed to provide and enhance educational opportunities for family members to learn together. Family literacy emphasizes parent and child together activities, which promote learning and improve the quality of relationships between parent and child. A major part of the PATHS family literacy component is designed to foster the love of reading in the family. It is our desire to motivate both parents and children to become life-long learners.
