Scholarship Program

The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) - in partnership with the District of Columbia Office of Early Childhood Development (OECD) - announces the implementation of the tuition scholarship support program. The purpose of the scholarship program is to increase the number of individuals in early care and education who are working toward a degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or Social Work.

ELIGIBILITY

Any employee currently working in a licensed child care center or family child care home in the District

HOW TO APPLY:

  1. Obtain an application for admission to UDC; Office of Admissions 4200 Connecticut Avenue, NW Building 39, Room A14 Telephone: (202) 274-6110
  2. Indicate on the application your intent to major in one of the following programs; Child Development (A. A. Degree) Early Childhood Education (B. A. or M. A. Degree) Social Work (B. S. Degree)
  3. Submit an application for financial aid. Financial Aid Office Building 39, Room 101 Telephone: (202) 274-5060
  4. Take the Basic Skills Assessment Test. Testing Office Building 38, Room A14 Telephone: (202) 274-6210
  5. Obtain a scholarship application form. Department of Education Building 38, Room 109 Telephone: (202) 274-7404
  6. Have your employer sign the form, and return it to the Department of Education at time of registration.
  7. Continue with registration procedures.
Funding for this program is provided through the Child Care Development Fund and Administered by the District of Columbia Department of Human Services, Commission on Social Services, Office of Early Childhood Development.
