Project ADVANCE
Project Purpose : To provide an opportunity for professionals in the field of early care and education to obtain a Master of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education. The program is designed to deepen the participants' understanding of current theory, research and administrative practices in order for them to lead and manage quality programs serving young children. |

Participants are expected to continue working full-time in early care and education in the District of Columbia while pursuing the Master of Arts degree.

The Master of Arts degree program (36 credit hours) will require a minimum of two years to obtain.

All students must take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and have the scores sent to UDC in order to be enrolled as a graduate degree candidate.

Participants can transfer up to 9 approved graduate credit hours into the Master of Arts degree program. Transcripts and course descriptions (or syllabus) must be sent to the Institute, Attention: Diana Zurer, for initial review and evaluation.

Project Advance will pay half the cost of tuition, books and fees for those participants who are working in early care and education in the non-public school setting. Participants are expected to pay the other half.

Courses and meetings will have flexible hours including early evenings, weekends and summer sessions.

If the student has any outstanding issues with the University, such as undergraduate transcripts not submitted to the Admissions Office as part of the application process, unpaid tuition or fees, or a change of home address not submitted to the University, the student will not be registered for classes.
