Three Elected As Alumni Representatives to the Board of Trustees

In accordance with the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations an election was held for the election of three alumni representatives to the Board of Trustees. The first notice of the election and the solicitation for nominees was issued on January 5. In order to be certified as a candidate to appear on the ballot nominees were required to obtain 25 signatures from alumni who graduated from UDC or its predecessor institutions. On February 15 four nominees met the requirements to appear on the Ballot.

The four nominees that met the requirement to be placed on the ballot were:

Barrington Scott
Jerome Shelton

On February 20, 2015, ballots were sent to 36734 alumni. A brief personal statement of each candidates background was included with the ballots. A more extensive information about the candidates was included in an email sent to 12900 alumni for whom an email address is on file that announced the presentation of a candidates forum at the University in Windows Lounge on March 16. The candidate forum was tapped and was shown on the UDC Webpage and was included in a subsequent email sent to alumni. On Thursday March 19 a final reminder was sent by email. On the March 20th deadline 1131 votes were cast, 60% on line and 40% paper ballots. The votes were:

The results of this election become official following a 10 day waiting period and pending any protests or complaints filed with the Election Administrator as required by municipal regulations of the District of Columbia.
